Objective

To support Central Asian countries in harmonizing their gas sector standards and practices with international and EU standards, thereby facilitating regional cooperation, enhancing energy security, and attracting foreign investment.

Results

The project led to the alignment of national gas sector regulations with international and EU standards across Central Asian countries, improved cross-border cooperation via Working Groups, supported the development of unified technical norms, and enhanced the investment climate by reducing regulatory and technical barriers in the region's gas sector. A roadmap for harmonizing gas metering standards, and an Action Plan for adopting EU / international standards in pipelines and metering, allowing the transferring of know-how related to the modernization and management of gas production and transport facilities and infrastructures were delivered.
