Objective

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan was implementing The Education Modernization Project under technical and financial support of the World Bank Loan No. 8709-KZ. The project was governed by the Loan Agreement 8709-KZ between the Republic of Kazakhstan and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development dated August 21, 2017 and ratified by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan 157-VI dated June 13, 2018.

The project “Consulting Services for Developing Textbook Evaluation Requirements and Capacity-Building of Experts contracted with the Ministry of Education and Science of Republic of Kazakhstan aimed at supporting system-wide improvement in primary and secondary education, to improve curricular standards, policies, and programs through a set of initiatives.

Results

Savvy Business together with Astana Kitap and the National and Kapodistrian University delivered new requirements for Textbooks and digital educational materials which were adopted by the Ministry and approved in the Parliament. An evaluation matrix for evaluation of the quality of textbooks and digital educational materials was delivered for 19 subjects. A training of 72hours on textbooks evaluation was delivered to 40 staff of the Textbooks Center in Astana and a large-scale asynchronous training on the same subject was delivered in English, Russian and Kazakh languages to 2000 teachers.
