Assistance with the verification of compliance of national legislative measures implementing Article 2, Article 4 and Annex II of Directive (EU) 2015/1513 (ILUC Directive)

Directive (EU) 2015/1513 (ILUC Directive), amending Directive 98/70/EC relating to the quality of petrol and diesel fuels and amending Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources, had to be transposed by all Member States by 10 September 2017. The ILUC Directive amends Directive 2009/28/EC (the Renewable Energy Directive) with the objective to reduce the risk of indirect land use change (ILUC) and to prepare the transition towards advanced biofuels. To reach this goal, the directive introduces some additional obligations for the Commission and for the Member States.

This assignment includes the provision of a constant up-to-date analysis for each Member State every time there is a change in the process of transposition and implementation of the Directive or a reply to an information request from the Commission or step in the EU Pilot investigation or infringement procedure. It also envisages the provision of additional 'insider information' on national legislative processes and the timing regarding the implementation of the ILUC Directive, as well as relevant national case law.
