
On 20 November 2025, Savvy Business’ Country Manager Giorgi Turdzeladze attended the Final Conference of the project “Internationalization of Doctoral Education in Georgian Universities (IDEG)”, held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Tbilisi, Georgia.
The conference marked a significant milestone in enhancing thequality, international visibility, and long-term sustainability of doctoral educationin Georgia. Academic leaders, doctoral candidates, and international expertsgathered to discuss key achievements of the project, present research findings andexplore innovative approaches to doctoral training, supervision, and qualityassurance aligned with European standards.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of the Joint Doctoral Degree Programme in Governance and Administration in Education andScience, developed within the framework of “Internationalization of Higher Education in Georgia” Project, funded by the World Bank and implemented by UCLC and Savvy Business for the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. The programme has already received accreditation and welcomed its first cohort of PhD students.
During the panel discussion, SavvyBusiness’ representative Giorgi Turdzeladze highlighted the major milestonesachieved throughout the project, emphasizing that the key insight and uniqueexperience was harnessing the private sector flexibility, necessary tofacilitate effective collaboration between the academic institutions withoutinterfering in their internal processes - ultimately ensuring successfuloutcomes, including the establishment of a dual-degree PhD program and theconduct of three international excellence schools on different topics.
